For Holmes and Watson my design was a grim, damp, balance between run-down and grand. The layout allowed the story to flow between different locations as the characters recall moments from earlier in the timeline and elsewhere in the building. The design also had specific functional constraints; the majority of the set needed to flat-pack to fit backstage to rep with another show on alternate evenings.
